Feb. 15th, 2008 @ 06:15 pm First Update in Almost a Year, eh?
So apparently I haven't felt particularly articulate over the past 10 months.  Or I've been so very busy.  Or just lazy.  Whatever the reason, I recently realized I have not updated this blog in almost a YEAR!  The horror.  I feel slightly silly still having a livejournal page.  Most of my friends have turned to bigger, better, shinier, top-of-the-line, more professional blog sites... me however, not so much.  I'll stick with what I know.  I don't care for change.

So what's happened in Megan's life during the past 10 months you may be asking yourself.  Not a whole lot really... I took a fantastic trip to Bermuda with the McGillians, took loads of summer courses (some of which changed my life, fo' realz), GRADUATED (*sigh of relief*), moved to Orlando, and got an internship with Disney.  Things have been GREAT.  I love it here, so much so that when I picture my future... it's hard to imagine Disney not being part of it.  Mickey and I are tight.  He'd be real upset if I left.

So that's my update.  Short, to the point... it's all I've got for ya'll.  Maybe in another 10 months I'll have more interesting things to report.  Till then...

<3 Adios Amigos.

Current Music: John Mayer -- "Stop This Train"
Ok... so I guess I should probably give everyone an update regarding my last post.  I'm kind of sick of answering the "WHAT?!?!  YOU'RE NOT GRADUATING?!?!?!" question.  So here it all is...

Essentially, Thursday morning I just happened to look at my unofficial transcript on Minerva, notice that I will only have 105 completed credits after this semester, and realize this is 15 less than I need to graduate.  Immediately I freaked out, called Student Affairs, and had them confirm this realization.  Unfortunately, there is very little I can do and of course McGill administration is of NO help in figuring out my best options.  What I'm currently planning on doing is taking June and July summer classes.  This SHOULD give me the credits I need to graduate.  Again, the McGill bureaucratic assholes are preventing me from getting any immediate answers.  So who knows how long it will take for me to find out for sure that I'll be able to graduate at the end of the summer.

I can't really blame anyone but myself for this unfortunate situation.  I, for sure, should have been more on top of things.  I just really hate this school because, I would think, not having completed enough credits for my program would be a HUGE RED FLAG for any of the MILLION advisors I have had meetings with this past year.  It's just yet another example of the bullshit students here have to deal with.  My plan for now is to head home for most of May (I'll still be going on the Bahamas trip, don't worry!) then come back on the 21st for a 2-week long seminar worth 3 credits.  Then take the remaining 12 credits in June and July.  And finally head home at the start of August for a few weeks before heading to Orlando on the 26th.

Thursday was one of the worst days of my life.  I'm not sure I've EVER been so sad, horrified, and angry in my whole life.  Talking with my family and friends, however, has made it all a bit easier and I'm coming to terms with the fact that there's absolutely NOTHING I can do.  It is what it is and I'll just have to get through it... as much as I hate it.  I haven't had too many curveballs thrown at me in my last 23 years, and I feel really lucky for that.  I know things could be way worse.

Lastly, I wish I could be graduating with all my friends on May 31st.  But know, as corny as this sounds, that I'll be there in spirit!

Feb. 28th, 2007 @ 10:49 pm My future...

Dear Megan,
Congratulations!  You have been selected to participate as a Merchandise Cast Member on the Disney College Program in the Fall 2007 Season.  This is a great opportunity for all students, and we are proud to offer this opportunity to you!  We look forward to the magic you will bring to Walk Disney World Resort and are thrilled about the opportunity we have to include you in our Disney family!  We're sure it is a journey that will change you!
Sincerely,
Jeff Hickman
Walt Disney World College Recruiter

You read correctly folks!  I'm going to be working at DISNEY WORLD in the fall!  I am so so SO incredibly excited.  Being down in Orlando for Reading Week has made me even more (if that's possible) excited for this whole situation.  Talking with Jessie and seeing the areas where I will be working has just pumped me right up.  Now I'm really thankful for this whole opportunity.  Up until this momentI think I have almost dreaded the end of school, leaving friends, graduation, and heading out into the real world.  It almost seems like the end of an era.  But now, I know I have SO much to look forward to.  Things look a lot less scary when you have a plan.

For all those interested here it is for the next year or so...
*End of April -- School ends, finals done, YESSS.
*Early May -- Subbing and Secretarying it up in B-town.
*Mid-May -- McGillian trip to the Bahamas.  WOOT WOOT!
*May 31st -- GRADUATION
*June, July and August -- Subbing, Secretarying, and possibly another internship at the Farnworth (a work in progress).
*Late August to Early January -- DISNEY WORLD.
*After that -- Who knows.  I'm very much hoping I like Disney (and they like me) enough to stay on with the company, moving up as time goes on.  Only time will tell I guess.

So now... a note to all friends and family:  YOU BETTER COME VISIT ME IN THE FALL!  If you've been there you know what a FANTASTIC place it is... and if you haven't been, take my word for it.  And what a great excuse to take a vacation to DISNEY WORLD!  As a Cast Member of Disney I get LOADS of discounts and will be able to get quite a few people into the parks for free.  So... START PLANNING TRIPS TO ORLANDO NOW!!!!  I've already booked my plane ticket, so can you!

If you know me AT ALL you know my absolute fascination and respect for Will Chase, a current Broadway actor.  He's absolutely FANTASTIC and has played such a variety of roles from Roger in Rent to Radames in Aida.  He's absolutely fantastic... so instead of going to class today I searched for online video clips.  And now it's time to share the love.  Now maybe some of you will understand why I think he is so unbelievable.  ENJOY!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcrQNhQYhR8 -- A clip from Will's newest Broadway show High Fidelity, based on the movie.  He played Rob, the lead role.  I JUST found out that he was in this show TODAY.  Unfortunately, the last performance was on December 17, 2006.  LAME!  This was the first broadway show of his I've missed in 5 years!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYlp8nvl5ms -- A music video of the same song, "Top 5 Desert Island Breakups."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVLDJtTsp5U -- Will Chase and Lea Salonga performing "Last Night of the World" from Miss Saigon on the Rosie O'Donell Show.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cro-K44D_Us -- This one's a clip from when Will played the roll of Roger in Rent.  Super bad quality, but a freakin' awesome performance of "One Song Glory."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TAb3B1CZsk -- Promo clip from The Today Show of the cast of Lennon: The Musical.  Will's only solo is at the very beginning for about 10 seconds, but the whole clip is worth a watch.  It's a complete montage of Lennon songs.  Also, some faces to watch out for:  Terrence Mann who made his true break-through performance in Cats and Julia Murney who played Elphaba on the tour of Wicked this past year.

That's it folks!

Aug. 14th, 2006 @ 01:42 pm Only me...
Let's talk about how I just left work to run a few errands (ie. cash a couple checks at the credit union, pick up some lunch, etc). On my drive back to the office I decide to roll down the car windows in an attempt to bask in this pleasant summer day. For my even further enjoyment I turned up the CD I was listening to (Jet, Get Born) in order to allow for a little rocking out. Two minutes into "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" I realized I was in the middle of a funeral procession to a gravesite. GREAT.

Story of my life.

Aug. 7th, 2006 @ 09:08 am GREAT weekend
Current Music: Jet-"Lazy Gun"

I find it humorous that NONE of my livejournal friends have posted anything all weekend.  IT'S BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL IN MAAAAAAINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was an utterly BRILLIANT weekend.  I am SOO glad the McGillians were actually able to make it up.  It DEFINITELY would NOT have been anywhere near as fun without them.  Saturday night's party went off with a splash (literally and figuratively).  And unexpected people actually came and STAYED which was pretty awesome.  The night was full of amazing adventures such as jello shots, a water balloon toss/fight, pinata (complete with eye injury and broken bird feeder), jello shots, an extremely short game of night-time volleyball, fun in the pool, jello shots, interesting computer artwork, an un-used 12-person tent, lunch boxes, and more jello shots.

The morning after wasn't as much fun.

Now... there's not really a whole much to look forward to for the rest of the summer.  I think we kind of hit the peak... and it's just downhill from here.  Can you say glass-half-empty?  There are, however, a few upcoming activities which should prove loads o' fun.  I've got a date planned with a TON of the girls (thanks to Aimee) for dinner in Bangor, which should be a glorious time.  Jarrett's going-away party, which should be fuuunnnnn, is also at the end of month.  And then... heading to MONTREAL the first of September!!  YAAYYAYAYAY!!!!  I can't wait to see all my McGillians again.  I just never get sick of you kids!

WOW.  W.O.W.  I've been super duper MEGA busy.

The past few weeks have consisted of... major procrastination, bitch-slapping a spider, getting caught in a hail/thunder/lightning/scary storm, making out with a dog, reinacting scenes from "Dirty Dancing," running, getting tan, molesting 17-year-olds, overusing the phrase "...and we'll go from there," organizing stickers, eating an entire bag of mega-sized MnM's, fighting with Canadian government officials, falling in love with a waiter named Jon, planning a fantastic summer party, kayaking, wanting to kill myself between 6 and 9pm each weeknight, telephoning Koreans Africans and the French, translating various phrases from English to German, dancing in the streets, lots o' swimming, and buying "electronics."

Unreal, eh?  I know... my life is stellar.  STELLAR.

Am I seriously doing this?  Am I SERIOUSLY updating my livejournal with information actually pertaining to my life?  I think I might be doing just that.  And it scares me a little bit.  But as this is basically the FIRST day in the two months since I've been home that I actually have nothing to do but laze around the house... livejournal is beckoning.

Many exciting things have happened since my arrival in Bucksport at the beginning of April.  MANY things.  Some of the most important include: a delightful family vacation in Bermuda, substitute teaching at the Bucksport High School, fiiiiiiinally finishing my final paper for Research Methods, a trip to Boston to see 'Wicked,' the Shriners Circus (hahaha), a ridiculous surprise anniversary party for Mama and Papa Loz, Aimee's Graduation, numerous graduation parties, a surprise trip to Sudbury for Eliora's bday, and auditioning for 'Oklahoma.'  It's been a pretty busy 8 weeks.  But loads of fun.

The window in my bedroom is currently leaking because of the copious amounts of rain we have gotten the past couple of days.  Not a fan.  At all.  It's also very cold in my room.  Which I'm equally upset with.  Ah well, so goes life.

Also, my dad bought me a package of slim jims the other day... for no apparent reason.  He just thought I would like them.

Now a message for any of those livejournal readers that may have been thinking of visiting Bucksport this summer.  You're all invited and I hope I get LOTS of visitors this summer.  There are a few weekends in particular which should provided added entertainment for all... two of those being the last two weekends in July.  Those two weekends the Bucksport Community Theatre will be putting on it's own rendition of the timeless classic 'Oklahoma.'  Come one, come all and see yours truly on the big stage.  Yaahh... don't get tooooooo excited.  I'm only a supporting cast member.  But it should still be fun, and anyone who wants to come visit either of those two weekends is MORE than welcome to.  We have tons of room in the Murauckas/Chase house.  Also... another weekend (dates yet to be determined) should be entirely exciting.  Aimee and I are hosting an overnight summer party bash... and it will be good times, for sure.  More details on that to come.  Very soon, I hope.

The TV is beckoning... and I now must leave the world of livejournal to pursue the wonders of Animal Planet.

Au revoir, mes amis.

Feb. 16th, 2006 @ 07:30 pm The past 48 hours...
I almost lost my life two nights ago. I got the most incredibly insane taxi driver in the city of Montreal. For those of you who are familiar with the geography of this snow town, you know where Avenue Docteur Penfield is located. Let's just cut to the chase and say that crazy taxi driver (we'll call him Bobby, for lack of a better name) was going approximately 80 kilometers per hour. Translation = 50 miles per hour. How about the scariest thing in the entire world. I almost deficated in my panties. I was glad to get out of that mode of transportation. Bonus of the night... Bobby got me to the bus station for less than $10. What a bargain.

The 11 hour bus-ride to Portland was horrible as always. A butch lesbian started talking to me in South Station. It made me nervous. So I pretended that I was really interested in reading my Art History notes. Aimee picked me up, and it was faaabulous to see her glorious face.

Today I went to Josh Groban's class. YOU RAISE ME UUUUUP. He was confused that I was there. Then realized I was Aimee's visitor and awkwardly pointed and smiled at me. I wanted to run my hands through his curly mop of yummy hair and recite the 50 states and capitals to him. LALA. After the dirty fantasies I took the class quiz, and am pretty sure I got a 100. God bless UMF Geography courses. Josh then preceeded to teach me about latitudes and tradewinds and solar radiation. I have been enlightened.

I think I have gained about 15 pounds since I've arrived in Maine. Great. CHALOOOOPAAAHHHHH.

Now I'm tired, and SURVIVOR's on in approximately 19 minutes, so I must go prep. To all my McGillians... have a super AWESOME vacation! See you in 10 days-ish.
